THE SERIES - Utah State holds a 5-4-1 advantage in the series with Weber State, which includes a four-match unbeaten streak (3-0-1) dating back to the 2000 season. The Wildcats are coached by Tim Crompton. The 5-7 senior has recorded 43 saves, two shutouts and has a goals-against average of 1.84. Goalie Kandice Golar has a 3-3-1 recorded in eight matches. Three different players have recorded a team-high three assists. Junior forward Linsey McFarland leads the team with six goals to go along with one assist. They have out-scored their opponents 13-5 during their current unbeaten streak. The Wildcats have now won four straight as they defeated Drake, 3-1, to open the tournament, then downed Northern Colorado on Sunday, 4-1. SCOUTING WEBER STATE - The Weber State Wildcats are 5-3-1 on the season after going 2-0 at Drake's Clash at Cownie last week. USU is 5-12-10 all-time in extra minutes. The four overtime tilts are the most by an Aggie team since the 2003 team saw overtime six times, going 2-2-2 in those games. PUTTING IN OVERTIME - Four of USU's 10 matches this season have gone extra minutes, with the Aggies going 0-1-3 in those games. Two of Dana Peart's four goals this season have been assisted by Sierra Smith, similarly two of Charity Weston's three goals have been a result of Lacey Christenson's efforts. Utah and Portland State combined for 11 corner kicks, while USU tallied just three.ĭANGEROUS DUOS - Abbott & Costello don't have anything on the duos of Peart & Smith and Weston & Christenson. NOTE-ABLE FROM LAST WEEK - Freshman Kiersten Nilsson, who has played in seven matches this year, recorded her first career start last Saturday against Portland State. Peart's six career goals move her into a three-way tie with Charity Weston and Ashley Cracroft (1997-2000) for 10th on the USU career goals list. Peart now leads the team in both goals (4) and points (9), while her four goals are more than all but two players scored last year (Nicole Feuz 8, Charlsie Harris 6).
PEART CONTINUES SOLID PLAY - Utah State sophomore Dana Peart continues to have a solid year for the Aggies as she tallied USU's only goal last week in its 1-1 tie with Portland State on Saturday. Wednesday's match begins at 4 p.m., while Sunday's kicks-off at noon.
USU then opens Western Athletic Conference play at home with Louisiana Tech visiting campus on Sun., Oct. 5 in their final non-conference match of the year.
